Volunteer Mondays

Based on feedback from members it has been decided not to have a few individual work 'days' during the year where we try to tackle too many jobs in one go.

Instead Monday has been designated a work 'evening' which will run throughout the summer.

Every member has something to offer - whether it's cleaning the clubhouse, cutting the grass, fixing the fence, pulling weeds or any one of a dozen jobs to be done in the yard.... there is no shortage of work! So if you can spare two hours on a Monday evening from 7pm-9pm the club could do with your help.  Whatever area you're planning to help out with we would ask if you could bring your own tools if you can... unfortunately our hardware stock is pretty limited!!!

Our first work evening is this Monday, 20th April, 7pm. Hope to see you there :)

Riverfest - May Bank Holiday Weekend

Due to tides on the May Bank Holiday weekend it has been decided to amend the departure time of  our annual cruise to Limerick to approx 2pm on Sat afternoon (instead of Friday evening). A return on Sunday would mean leaving at the early hours of 7.30am so that's a non runner - what's the point in going to the Riverfest if we don't get to see any of the events going on??? (aside from the potential sore head or two...) The plan is to wait until Monday morning, leaving about 0900 hrs & BBQ in FYC when we get back.

There is plenty of space on boats if anyone is interested in coming along on either journey. Contact Elaine on 0861231864.

Cruise to Limerick for Riverfest
Depart Foynes to Limerick 1400 Saturday 2nd May
Return Limerick to Foynes 0900 Monday 4th May
BBQ at FYC on return :)

Union Chandlery Laser Spring Series

The weather wasn't co-operating on the final day of the Union Chandlery Laser Spring Series. Our laser fleet like a challenge but a squally 25-30kts is probably stretching it a bit! With no racing on the final day the leaders from last week held onto their positions with Simon McGibney taking 1st in the Adult Fleet and Christopher McDaid 1st in the Junior Fleet. Christopher had such a sizeable lead going into the final day that he could not have been beaten and was in fact 4th overall.

New Yachtmasters!!!!!

Well done to everyone who completed the Yachtmaster Coastal and Yachtmaster Offshore shorebased course that's been running at the club for the past 11 weeks. The final exam took place on Monday night so hopefully everyone passed :) Thanks to Dr. Pat Hartigan from who gave the course. There was a little celebration in the club afterwards where the bar was open & Pat had ordered in some finger food and encouraged everyone on the course to take the next step with the practical exam....   Well done again all!

Sailing Club 2015 Calendar

There are still a few of the 2015 Sailing Club Calendars available for purchase. A lot of work went into putting the calendar together and making sure that every member was included in the photographs. It's a fabulous momento of past years sailing - every member should have one and we would appreciate you're support with this! The calendars also include also include the 2015 Tide Tables so will be very useful in the coming season! They can still be purchased by contacting Patricia on 0860795374.
