Farewell to Commodore James McCormack

Home / Club Announcements / Farewell to Commodore James McCormack

Last Friday saw our Commodore of 5 years, James McCormack, stepping down.  We are so grateful to James for all his hard work and leadership over the last 5 very productive years and for getting Foynes Yacht Club’s name out there not only nationally but worldwide.  James started sailing out of Foynes with the late Dick Nash from Newcastle West and PJ Scanlon from Shanagolden and credits his love of sailing to these people and to his late father Joe.  He also had great admiration for the late David Floyd who was a great mentor and who encouraged him to get involved in Foynes Yacht Club all those years ago.   We would like to take this opportunity to CONGRATULATE James on a job well done and wish him well in the future and look forward to seeing him on the water more often, doing what he loves best …. sailing!!!  James will still be involved in the club going forward taking up the position of Vice-Commodore.

From the Committee and Members of Foynes Yacht Club …. THANK YOU James for a fantastic 5 years!
