What a fantastic weekend!
We were very busy hosting the Union Chandlery Munster Mermaid Championships recently. We had two great days of competitive racing for our Mermaid class. Our OOD Scorie Walls managed to get all four races scheduled, no problem as usual, despite some difficult conditions as well as some very cheeky sailors resulting in the U flag being used by the time the first race finally got off. A massive congratulations to Darragh and Noel McCormack and Cathal McMahon on 188 Innocence who took home home the title. Congratulations also to Oisin Finucane who won Best U25 Helm of the event. Fantastic to see our FYC boats taking home some silverware.
We can’t forget about our off the water entertainment, Niamh agus Daithi and Michael O’Brien. They had the club rocking all weekend, and Ann and Tim Shanahan who fed us after sailing on Sunday.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this weekend happen. Events like this take a lot or organising. We’re so lucky to have such a fantastic band of volunteers at FYC. There are far too many people to mention in one post but you know who you are! Thanks also to the travelling boats from Rush and Skerries and to Patricia McCormack and Tony Quinlivan who took all the photographs over the weekend.
