The club was a hive of activity recently for the Munster Mermaid Championships. Saturday was disappointing as racing had to be abandoned due to the lack of wind but thankfully the wind picked up for Sunday and three races were raced, thanks to Race Officers; Raymond McGibney and Trevor Browne.
CONGRATULATIONS to Darrach Dineen and Crew, Sean Pecknam and Breda Magner, on 102 Endeavour, winners of the 2024 Munster Mermaid Championships. Darrach – quote “It couldn’t have been a better finish 123, 102, 188, all finished within about 3 seconds of each other. It was an amazing finish”.
Congratulations also to Jim Carthy and Crew, Muriel and Paula Carthy, on 123 Vee, who came 2nd, and to Darragh McCormack and Crew, Mark McCormack and Keith Rochford, on 188 Innocence, who came 3rd.
Bev extended his gratitude to all sailors for participating in the event, as well as their families and friends. He thanked Trisha Kelly and her staff for providing a beautiful meal on Saturday evening. He also gave a big shout-out to the FYC volunteers – race officers and committee, mark layers, safety personnel, those who launched and retrieved boats, all clubhouse volunteers, administration, and PRO.
