The Laying Up Supper was a tremendous success, and it was fantastic to see such strong support for our Commodore, Patricia McCormack, in her first year in the role.
Patricia welcomed everyone and thanked them for turning out in such great numbers.
After dinner, Patricia presented four Appreciation Awards to members whose visionary guidance, exceptional leadership, and unwavering commitment to Foynes Yacht Club span from 25 to 45 years. The deserving recipients were: Patrick Finucane, James McCormack, Tom Murray, and John Conway.
Flowers were presented to Mary McCormack, winner of “Irish Sailing’s Senior Instructor of the Year Award 2024” to Patricia Lowes, in recognition of her invaluable work behind the scenes at events over many years, to Amelie Brogan, marking her first year as Senior Instructor of our Sailing Academy. Flowers were also presented to Patricia herself, acknowledging her dedication and hard work in her first year as club’s first female Commodore.
The Wanderlust Trophy was awarded to Joe Kiernan for logging the most nautical miles this season on his boat – Out of Office.
Thanks to Helena Roche and her Staff of The Old Stand – Shanagolden – for the delicious food and excellent service, and to Boru for the music. A very enjoyable night was had by all.
