Well done to all boats from FYC who took part in this year’s WIORA Championships held in the Aran Islands recently. Congratulations to FYC Commodore, Bev Lowes & Crew, on Poitin, 1st in Class 6, & winner of White Sails Overall / Raymond McGibney & Crew, on Dis-A-Ray, 1st in Class 5 / Ed Enright & Crew, on Liberty, 2nd in Class 5/ Kevin Reidy & Crew on Shelduck, 3rd in Class 5 / Rachel Conway & Crew, on Yachtzee, 1st in Class 2. Well done to John Paul Buckley, Patrick Finucane, and Anthony Halpin, Mark Layers and Safety for the event. We are delighted to say that Foynes Yacht Club had the highest prize count of all the clubs represented!!
Although 40 boats entered the series, 10 were hampered from joining the fleet by weather conditions which also forced the cancellation of two of the four planned days of racing. Three inshore courses were however sailed as well as the important coastal race that serves as the offshore requirement for the event.
