Well done to Killian Reidy and Conor Clifford who took part in the Oppi Connacht Championships held in Lough Derg Yacht Club recently. They were both in the senior fleet, with Killian in the senior gold and Conor in the senior silver. Killian came 17th overall out of 42 sailors in the senior fleet, his first top 20 finish since moving up to senior gold. Conor finished all races which was a great achievement as the wind was so light. Conor was awarded "The most sporting Sailor Award" in the silver fleet.
A huge congratulations from all in Foynes Yacht Club to Connor and Derek on "Big Deal" who have done themselves and the club proud in the recent Volvo Round Ireland Race. The lads finished not only leaped up the rankings to finish first in the IRC Two-Handed Class they also finished fourth overall. It was great to see visitors from St. Michael's Rowing Club stop by last Saturday morning for a chat and a cup of tea after rowing down from Limerick. It took them an hour and a half in glorious sunshine. They rowed back to Limerick last evening and were really looking forward to the trip. It was great to see them and we look forward to more visits in the future.
